Often times judges are also applicants themselves. Or they might be an employee or have done work for the individual whose application they are reviewing. This would be a conflict of interest. Every OpenWater customer handles conflicts of interest different, but we do provide the ability for judges to recuse themselves from submissions as a possible solution to this problem.

To allow judges to recuse themselves, first navigate to your program.

Under the Program Settings drop down menu, click Judge Settings.

Check the box to Allow Judge Recusal and click save.

The Judges View

While a judge is reviewing a submission, they will be able to recuse themselves by clicking Recuse Myself from Judging this Submission. They will then be prompted to provide a reason for their recusal.

View List of Recusals

Under the Judging drop down menu, click Recusals. Here you will be able to view and export the list of recusals and their reasons.
