The Separator Field does not actually ask the applicant any question and is not present as columns in report outputs. It is strictly for providing instructional text to applicants, or breaking the form up via different heading areas.

You can add a Separator Field to the submission form by choosing Separator from the left side panel of the form builder.

Complete the field label and field details as you normally would to provide instruction to the applicants.

This is how it would display to the end user.

Using Variables within Separators

Another useful function of separators is that they can utilize variables to pull relevant information, or to display responses collected in a previous round.

The first thing you’ll need to do is ensure that “Turn on Rich Text Mode” is checked

You will then be able to click “Edit” to open the rich text editor for the details field.

Within the rich text editor click “Insert Variable” to open our list of available options, which include a wide selection of data types.

At the bottom of our variables list we can find “submission fields” which will include answers that were supplied in past rounds. Check the boxes next to the answers we would like to include, and click “Insert Selected” when done.

Inserting variables will pull the end user’s responses, but without labels for our variables there won’t be any context for the data we’re pulling, so let’s add some titles in front of our variables to add clarity.

Now when we are filling in the second round form we have a helpful reminder of our previous responses.
