Depending on how an applicant answers questions on the submission form, you can award points automatically. This is also known as Auto-Scoring. For example, you may want to award 5 points if the applicant is under the age of 30. Or award bonus points if the applicant provides a certification.

In our example, we are going to setup two auto-scoring rules.

  • Award 5 points if the applicant's favorite color is blue.

  • Award 1 point for every book the applicant has published. If the applicant published 3 books, they receive 3 points.

To configure auto-scoring, first navigate to your program.

Under the Round Settings drop down menu, click Configure Auto-Scoring.

Click Add New Scoring Rule.

Favorite Color is Blue

We will set the name of the rule as Favorite Color is Blue and award 5 points.

And we added the appropriate condition.

One Point Per Published Book

We set the name of our new auto-scoring rule as One Point Per Published Book and the points awarded is 1. However, this time we click Multiple Points by Field Value. This is a multiplier effect and only works on numeric field types. We choose the appropriate field from the submission form to multiply against.

No special conditions necessary for this rule.

Recalculate Auto-Scoring

You may find that you have to make adjustments to auto-scoring rules after submissions have already been received and points awarded. In this case, you will need to recalculate the auto-score results and can do so by clicking the following button:
